Agenda items
- On the agenda1.2 · Public Comment
No public comment recorded. The agenda's standing language caps comments at three minutes per speaker, notes the board does not respond to or act on personnel complaints made in open session, and routes student discipline to a hearing officer in closed session.
- On the agenda2 · System Audit of Teacher Voice
Mrs. Kohl presented two graphs on the district leadership team as part of an audit of collaborative teams. The findings, per the minutes: more teacher leadership opportunities than expected, with about 54 teachers -- roughly half of the building's 121 -- representing unique voices (AIM teams not yet included), and 73% of collaborative partnerships including teacher representation. A narrative sheet describing what each group does is to follow.
- On the agenda3 · US News and World Report ranking
Mr. Tingley reported BBCHS was named a top school nationally and emerging in the state. Rankings weigh college readiness, state assessment, proficiency, graduation rate and underserved student performance, and the data reflects results from two years prior, so the district expects to stay on the list and climb over the next two years. Many higher-ranked schools are selective-enrollment; parochial schools are not included. BBCHS requires its AP students to sit the AP exam and the district covers the cost; a 3, 4 or 5 earns college credit, and results are analysed to strengthen course curriculum.
- On the agenda4 · FY27 Budget
Mrs. Kolitwenzew reviewed the FY27 budget highlights. Per the minutes: the budget is balanced overall, with planned deficit spending confined to the Bond & Interest and Site & Construction (Capital Projects) funds. The auditor noted a balance has been built in Bond & Interest, which the district levies for, through interest earnings. Corporate Personal Property Replacement Tax receipts came in better than anticipated, which removed the need to transfer funds out of Working Cash. - On the agenda5 · Permission to Bid -- Boiler Replacement
Mrs. Kolitwenzew will request permission to bid the boiler replacement at the September board meeting. Attachment: 'FY276 Sept Permision to Bid.pdf' (district's spelling).
- On the agenda6 · Maintenance Grant
On the same boiler replacement: a $50,000 grant is available, and bids open September 28. The replacement will reduce the plant to three boilers going forward.
- On the agenda7 · Other -- stipends
Athletic stipends were approved at the August board meeting; academic and club stipends will be brought forward for approval at the September board meeting.
- On the agenda8 · Adjournment
Meeting adjourned at 12:27 p.m.
