Elementary Special Education Teacher � Position Description
The Elementary Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in grades K�8. The teacher works with families, classroom teachers, related service providers, and school administrators to help students make academic, social, and behavioral progress and participate meaningfully in school.
Key responsibilities include
- Plan and deliver instruction based on each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Adapt lessons, materials, and assessments to meet students' learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and use the results to adjust instruction.
- Develop, implement, and review IEP goals with the student's educational team.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in the classroom.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and needs.
- Maintain accurate records and support a safe, respectful learning environment.
The teacher should demonstrate strong instructional skills, patience, sound judgment, and a commitment to helping every student succeed.
